Your details

What we keep, and why

The short version: your email address, what you write about your cars, and any photos you upload. Nothing else, and no advertising trackers.

Your email address

We use it to send you the link that signs you in, and to find your answers when you come back. It's never shown on your page or on the Memory Wall. The name that appears in public is whatever you type into the name field, so use as much or as little of your real name as you like.

What you write

Your answers are stored so you can come back to them. They stay private to you until you send them in, and they only become public if a moderator approves them.

Photos

When you upload a photo, we strip its embedded metadata before storing it. That matters: photos taken on a phone usually carry the exact location they were taken, which is often somebody's driveway. We keep only which way up the picture goes.

Cookies

One cookie, which is what keeps you signed in. There is no analytics tracking and no advertising cookie on this site.

Deleting everything

There's a button at the bottom of your own page that deletes your account, your answers and your photos. It's immediate and it can't be undone.

Getting in touch

If you would rather we took something down, or you want a copy of what we hold, email hello@carsofmylife.com.
